2010 Nominees

2010 Voting has ended!  See you at the Derby/Figure 8 party for the induction ceremony March 13th in Osceola.  Party starts at 7:00.

Figure 8 Nominees

Stacey Holloway, Aurora – Figure 8 driver, promoter of Aurora track. One of the first to drive in figure 8 in Nebraska. His wisdom of building and maintaining a figure 8 track is famous. The knowledge came from his many years of driving at different tracks.  Nominated by: David Bryan

Craig Wize, York – Started racing Figure 8’s in 1994 when York, Aurora, and Geneva were the only tracks that ran Figure 8’s.  He raced until 2003 collecting the 2002 Fillmore County Fair victory.  When he retired from racing himself, he stayed involved by building and helping his two sons’ on their cars who he got involved in the sport and continuing to help them compete.  Nominated by: Mike & Chris Wize

Demolition Derby Nominees

Bob Hoffmeister, St. Edward – Derbied when a 65' Imperial was "just another old car", and these "new" GMs (73' and 74') were easy to beat.  Nominated by: David Bryan

Bruce Dannatt, Ainsworth – A driver among drivers. One of the first to put a stroker (383) small Chevy in a 67' - 73' Imperial. One of the smartest, tactful drivers I have seen. He knew where to hit each make of car, and the hits were usually devastating. He hit like Kevin Reimers, but drove like Jack Pribyl.  Nominated by: David Bryan

Bob Walters, Hyannis – Drove and threw away Imperials like people throw away new Fords today. A hard hitter who once broke his front teeth out on a steering wheel. Has passed away.  Nominated by: David Bryan

Lyndon Branson, Hyannis – Learned to build cars by helping Bob Walters. He has been there and done that. His list is impressive. The one I like is the fact he has won derbies in five different states. TNN winner. Can sand bag with the best. Can out hit Kevin Reimers.  Nominated by: David Bryan

Steve James, Ravenna – Drove old Fords. Old School who fully welded cars (torch and #9 wire) before welding cars was even thought of. Many, many feature victories.  Nominated by: David Bryan

Promoter/Official/Support Nominees

Abe Lincoln, Columbus – Promoter who built the US 30 race track. Held demos for years until he passed away and Jim Rosno then continued his tradition. Abe was one of the very first to pay big dollars (a trip to Hawaii, thousands in cash). Abe was one of the very first to have driver meetings to voice their opinions on rules. Nominated by: David Bryan

David Bryan, Osceola – David has been an innovator in the Nebraska derby and figure 8 racing for many years whether it is with his business Raptor Fabrication or his ideas that create excitement and set his events apart from others.  Through all his hard work and dedication, demolition derby and figure 8 racing are the attractions at many county fairs.  As he continues to promote and officiate, we want to commend him for his ceaseless dedication, contribution, and honorable duty.  Nominated by: NeFigure8n
