Starting in 2012 the majority of the voting was turned over to the current Hall of Fame members who will vote along with a internet fan vote to determine which drivers are inducted into the Hall of Fame Class. The fan vote will be an online vote with the top vote getters in each category receiving a vote. Below is the break down of each category and how the votes will be cast.
Derby Votes
o Current Hall of Fame Derby Drivers will have 6 votes each. Must vote for at least 4 different nominees and the two remaining votes can be used how they would like.
o Current Hall of Fame Figure 8 Drivers will have 2 votes each. Each vote must be for a different nominee.
o Current Hall of Fame Promoter/Official will have 1 vote.
o Fan vote. Top 4 nominees in the fan vote will each receive 1 vote.
The top 4 vote getters will be inducted into the Figure 8 and Derby Hall of Fame.
Figure 8
o Current Hall of Fame Figure 8 Drivers will have 4 votes each. Must vote for at least 2 different nominees.
o Current Hall of Fame Derby Drivers will have 1 votes each.
o Current Hall of Fame Promoter/Official will have 1 vote.
o Fan vote. Top 2 nominees in the fan vote will each receive 1 vote.
The top 2 vote getters will be inducted into the Figure 8 and Derby Hall of Fame.
Official/Promoter
o All current Hall of Fame members will each receive one vote
o Fan vote. The Top nominee in the fan vote will receive 1 vote.
The top vote getter will be inducted into the Figure 8 and Derby Hall of Fame.
*If current Hall of Fame member is no longer with us, a representative from the family will be eligible to cast their votes.
